Common questions

Six things students ask before they trust a schedule from here.

Is this the university's own tool?

No. It is an independent tool built by a UW-Madison student, free to use, not affiliated with or endorsed by the university. Treat what you see here as a draft to check against the official systems.

Does it enroll me in the courses?

No. It builds the plan; you still enroll in Course Search & Enroll. Keep the plan open in one tab and enroll in another.

How current are the seat counts?

Seats come from snapshots taken twice a day, not a live feed. Every schedule shows the exact time its seat data was captured. On your enrollment day, treat the official system as the truth.

What happens to the DARS file I upload?

The PDF is parsed in memory and never written to disk. What does get saved with each schedule is the requirement summary read out of it: which groups you still need and how many credits are left. That lives in your account so My plans can re-open the schedule later, and deleting your account deletes it.

I changed my email address. What now?

Change it with your sign-in provider first, then open Settings and press the sync button. Your saved plans stay where they are. If that new address already has its own account here, the two need to be merged by hand: tell us in the feedback box on any schedule page.

Where do the grade and professor numbers come from?

Grade distributions come from Madgrades, which publishes UW-Madison's own historical grade data. Professor ratings come from RateMyProfessor. Both are history, not a promise about your section.

Something else?

Use the feedback box at the bottom of any schedule page. It reaches us even if you are not signed in.
